Money-Saving Tips on Groceries

Here are some money saving tips when you go to the grocery store.

1. Double the recipe and freeze the second half for another night’s or weekend meal.
2. Think “inside” the box. Check what you’ve got already in your pantry before you shop and search for recipes to use it up.
3. Get the most flavor for your buck by using small amounts of high quality of, strong flavored ingredients, such as feta cheese, sausage, citrus and herbs.
4. Frozen fruits and vegetables are a great value with no waste and high nutrient content.
5. Beans are magical! Along with grains and greens, they are an excellent nutrient dense, affordable and versatile Winter pantry food and go a long way!
6. Make soup with leftovers! Kids love it and your husband will love it too, especially during the Winter.
7. Extra riped fruits can make delicious toppings for pancakes or ice creams. Don’t throw them away. Stew them!
8. Winter wraps stretch your dollar by using little or no meat and lots of veggies, eggs or grains in foods such as quesadillas, cabbage rolls and burritos.
9. Take advantage of coupons. It sounds simple, but many people don’t bother and miss out on loads of savings. Just make sure it is really something you need.
10. Sign up to the store’s savings program. You do not need to keep that little card with you. All you need is to punch in your telephone number, and the savings show up automatically in the register.
